Quick answer

Go by rail or boat if you can. Take the BTS Silom Line to Krung Thon Buri, change to the Gold Line and ride to Charoen Nakhon station, a short walk from ICONSIAM. Or take the BTS to Saphan Taksin and catch a shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier. Taxis work, but evening traffic is slow, and a late arrival counts as a no-show. For the standard option, the cruise counter is on Pier 4.

Where the counter is

ICONSIAM is a large mixed-use complex on the Chao Phraya, with a shopping mall, hotels and homes, a riverside park and walkway, and piers built on site for private boats and public ferries. The cruise check-in for the standard option is a counter on Pier 4. Other options can start somewhere else, so read your voucher before you set off, and open the meeting point in a maps app to check you are heading for the right place. If you get lost inside, ask staff for the river piers and the cruise counter rather than wandering the shopping floors.

By BTS and the Gold Line

The Gold Line is a short automated people mover that serves as a feeder between the BTS Silom Line and ICONSIAM. Ride the Silom Line to Krung Thon Buri, the interchange between the two lines, and change there. The Gold Line runs to Charoen Nakhon station, which serves the ICONSIAM complex; from there it is a short walk. The Gold Line has its own flat fare, and tickets are bought for stations on that line only, so buy a separate ticket at Krung Thon Buri.

By shuttle boat from Sathorn Pier

Saphan Taksin station on the BTS Silom Line connects with Sathorn Pier. Shuttle boats run from Sathorn Pier to ICONSIAM, so you arrive at the mall from the water without touching the road. It is a calm way to start a river evening, and it keeps you clear of the traffic that makes the evening rush so hard to predict.

By taxi or ride-hailing car

A car from door to door sounds easiest, but in the evening it is a gamble. Bangkok's traffic congestion is chronic, and a journey across the river can stall for a long time. If you do take a car, leave far earlier than the app suggests, and ask to be dropped at ICONSIAM itself, then walk to the pier. If you are running late, switch to the BTS rather than sitting in a jam.

Timing your arrival

Your voucher shows the check-in and sailing times. Check-in closes before boarding, and a late arrival is treated as a no-show without a refund, so read the check-in time as when you must stand at the counter, not when to leave your hotel. Give yourself time to cross a very large mall and find the right pier. Arriving early costs little: ICONSIAM's riverside walkway is a pleasant place to wait.

The transfer option and the way back

One option includes a transfer from your hotel, and the cruise has two drop-off locations; if you book that option, the pickup and drop-off details appear on your booking. With the standard option you start and finish at the pier, and the way home is yours to arrange. The Gold Line and the BTS are the simplest choice.
